The eminent St .George HS Thankey has   Established in 1913 By the Glorious And forsited vission of christian missionaries and parish people.  And was upgraded in 1948 as up and 1976 as High schooThen the  school is named as st George Hs Thankey ,is Near costal Belt .Most of    the students are from poor family lives on fishing.                                   
              Thankey a very attractive Hamlet situated at the North-west part of Kadakkarappally village of  Cherthala Thaluk of Alappuzha  District bordering with the Arabian sea . In the inial stage of 19th century
it is true that the traditional society of Kerala comprised with a numerous social inequalities , caste systems and Barbarian feudalistic land  Lord ism ,even though it was the renaissance Age .
                                
                                                    The esteemed contributions and efforts of christian missionaries to enlighten the society were remarkable and unforgettable .According to myth the name Thankey has originated from the Portuguese term Thank which means wet y ,watery and muddy land .There was a Kudippallikkudam and an English school functioned under the Leadership of Thankey church Authorities before formation of St,Mary's L P School in 1915 .The origination of the school was the Result of restless efforts of Parish Vicar and unforgettable personalities like Mr.souri koonthanissery , Mr. Mathootty Thaivelikkakath ,Mr.Pappu Thengappurakkal ,Mr .Eravi Sankarakurup was the First  Headmaster for the primary school in 1948 it was upgraded as UP and in 1976 Raised As St.George's HS .

                                                   Now the Prestigious  institution has been functioning  in an Envious way by the supervision of  His Excellency Rt.Rev.Fr.Dr.Joseph Kariyil Bishop of Cochin The power of attorny General Manager Rev.Fr.Francis Kurisinkal and the Headmaster Mr.K.M Jacob.
